Personal Statement I have been in private practice since 2000; including 4 years of working at University of Colorado at Boulder at Counseling & Psychological Services. I have taught classes at Naropa University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and The Colorado School for Family Therapy. I am a licensed professional counselor, certified in marriage and family therapy, board certified in sexology, an AASECT certified sex therapist, and a Level II TRE Practitioner. I specialize in working with adult individuals, couples, and groups focusing on sex therapy and relational counseling. Generally speaking, my therapeutic approach involves exploration and understanding of patterns and limitations with the aim of personal transformation and freer, more creative living. I use a variety of techniques and methods drawn from sex therapy, couples therapy, family systems, and trauma/tension releasing exercises (TRE). I will help you develop strategies to grow as an individual, as a partner within a relationship, and as a member of a family or group.
Practice Statement  My name is Tara Galeano. I am a psychotherapist in private practice, I am an educator, and I am a facilitator. My therapeutic approach involves exploration and understanding of patterns and limitations with the aim of personal transformation and freer, more creative living. I use a variety of techniques and methods drawn from sex therapy, couples therapy, and family systems. Recently, I have incorporated TRE into my practice and have seen tremendous results. TRE provides couples the chance to experience deep-core stress release and a greater degree of intimacy with their partners. Relationships with our partners are very sensitive to the effect of stress, both present moment and buried, regardless of its source. Stress often acts as a barrier to intimacy, because the energy it takes for us to contain or control our reactions to the stress we carry is energy we can’t use to connect with our partners. When couples use TRE, they become more relaxed and open and find themselves more able to connect to their partners. When somatic barriers created by stress dissolve, clients experience the ability to forge a deeper level of conversation with their partners. It is in this more relaxed and open context that effective therapeutic work can take place.
